Ever since they introduced cell-shading in games like Jet Set Radio or Tales of Symphonia, I've wanted to see them make a game that looked so close to being 2D that you had to look at it twice to make sure it wasn't hand drawn.
Oh wait before I get to far...This is cellshading:

Everyone on the same page? no? Well all you need to know then is that cell-shading looks cartoony. It's like the opposite of Cameron's Avater..Moving on!
So there are barely any cell-shaded examples of work that look like I wanted in my mind..All the while I started thinking, If I wanted it to look hand-drawn I might as well hand draw it myself!
So now I'm thinking that my style will be a mix between 3D and 2D..Not literally but in the way it looks. I'd like the shading to give it a 2D feel yet the movement would be fluid in a 3D sorta way..I've seen stuff kinda similar to what my made up style is but they don't hit the nail on the head.
Of course I'm posting this on a blog for the world to see..so shouldn't I be scared that some random dude get's inspired and decides to rip off my pre-described style and claim it his own? Absolutely not! I have described it but I have not shown it. Whatever someone else makes will not end up just like I thought up. Even if it was close, I would just have to make my style better then the other dudes ripped off style! I'd like to see someone try anyway..Might be interesting...
Of course I don't think there's much of a chance of that happening..Just thinking out loud I guess.
I also downloaded the trial to Zbrush.(A 3d sculpting tool of sort)I'm loving this so far...even though I barely know how to do anything..XD
I made a highly detailed blob, then I exported it to Cinema 4d and added textures and all that....pretty cool nerdy stuff to me! ^_^
*Edit* Oh and check this out if you wish. Not my art style but it has some of the quality's that are similar to my ideas. ^_^
A bit of an inspiration right there...Or more of a confirmation to me that you can make 2D style 3D!
