Down The Drain

I'm the guy who is very picky when it comes to movies and art. It's not that I'm a jerk who just wants to hate everything, I can make myself watch anything and at least try to find some kind of enjoyment out of it, but when you want to know what type of stuff I REALLY want to see, I'll tell you, Not more of the same.

Some people think "well ok, here's this really out there movie I saw that you'll love" ...ok so its just about some crazy person and they directors knew how to use aftereffects for insane looking effects...woo?

The biggest monsters, the craziest crap going on the screen, the most intricately detailed stories that must have taken SOOO long to think up..Not hating on you guys make it, but it's definitely NOT what I want to see!

So you're like "Ah but no one makes stuff like this! How can you not love it? How can you not be instantly rushing to your local franchise department store to buy it?!

Well I'll tell ya, I don't give a crap about that! That's the same stuff Hollywood has been dishing out for years! Bigger, flashier, bolder, more controversial then last years [Insert title here] Summer blockbuster. More of the same junk, every year, just they up the cool settings by just a bit, enough to make you think its worth going and spending money on..again.

You want to know what makes a "Hollywood film"? It's not that it was made under Hollywood, no, it's that these films contain a common trait, THEY'RE FAKE!
Ofcourse you're gonna say all films are fake..but here's what I mean, a film that has become simply a product, something that has no point other than to bring fame and wealth upon it's creator, That is fake my friends, and when you're watching summer film X, and are wondering why you don't connect with the characters or why the story doesn't impact you, well remember my words when I say that it's cause there is NO real emotions, NO heart, NO soul, none of that put into this film, Nothing but business sense and a few men's wasted creativity!

I want to see films that move you, films that actually make something inside stir, for good or bad. Films that makes you think, realize, consider, and maybe even learn. Films that can make you laugh, make you cry, glimpses of real joy, and feelings of real anger! Make me remember that my heart still works, and that creativity is still a little more than the means to some man's dollar, Let me see what the artist was trying to say, and feel a hint of how they felt! and maybe I'm being too bold, but I have a feeling there are others who feel the same way.

That's what I think art is, Art is not the best skills or the most thought out thing, It's expression, it's putting your heart out to the world and hoping someone responds. It's sharing you're experiences with others and feeling other's experiences as well. Art is honesty, art is creation, and art is a reflection of it's creator!

If I am wrong and art is simply a hobby or a business, I will drop it instantly, and instead do whatever demented thing it was that that I thought art was in the first place!

I don't think this stuff is impossible, I've seen films, heard songs, and gazed upon pictures that tell me that real stuff like this does exist, so you can't tell me otherwise.

and that is the end of my rant, let your eyes widen, call me crazy under your breath, and move on to the next thing you were gonna do.
